The convergence of technologies that promises to change the world
By João Paulo Couto.
Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT) and 5G are three technologies that, together, can cause a revolution in different sectors of society. They complement and enhance each other, opening up new possibilities for innovation, productivity and sustainability. In an analogy, think of these tools as elementary parts of a system as complex as the human body that together work in perfect harmony.
AI is the brain behind this technological convergence, being capable of processing large volumes of data in real time, extracting meaningful insights and making autonomous decisions.
IoT is the body of this digital union. It consists of connecting physical objects to the internet, allowing them to communicate with each other and with users. IoT can generate benefits such as energy savings, process optimization, remote monitoring, among others.
5G is the blood, which, just like in the human body, connects and distributes information essential for its functioning. The new generation of mobile telephony offers much higher speed, stability, scale, low latency and data traffic capacity than previous ones. 5G is essential to enable massive connectivity and quality data transmission between IoT devices and AI platforms.
Artificial intelligence, the internet of things and 5G complement each other and enhance results.
What are the benefits of combining AI, IoT and 5G?
The combination of these three technologies can bring positive impacts to different sectors of society, such as:
Health
With AI, IoT and 5G, it is possible to perform surgeries remotely, with the help of robots, in addition to monitoring patients' health in real time, diagnosing diseases accurately, among other applications.
Industry
There is also the creation of smart factories, which adapt to demand, optimize production, reduce costs, increase safetyamong other advantages.
Mobility
It is possible to develop intelligent transport systems, which integrate autonomous vehicles, traffic lights, cameras, sensors, among other elements, to improve the flow, safety and sustainability of traffic.
Cities
In this context, these tools enable the development of smart cities, which use data and technologies to improve citizens’ quality of lifeoffering efficient, safe and inclusive public services.
These are just a few examples of the potential of the convergence of technologies that is underway. However, for it to come to fruition, it is necessary to face some challenges, such as:
- Infrastructure: for 5G to work properly, antennas and equipment compatible with the new technology must be installed, which requires investment and planning;
- Regulation: For AI and IoT to be used ethically, responsibly and safely, it is necessary to establish standards and laws that regulate the use, protection and governance of data and technologies;
- Education: while technology evolves, it must be accompanied by new forms of training, so that the public is able to understand, use and create solutions based on AI, IoT and 5G.
Therefore, the convergence of technologies that promise to change the world is an increasingly close reality, but it requires preparation and collaboration from everyone involved. The future is being built now, and we can be part of it.
However, by integrating these technologies, It is important to ensure data security and regulatory complianceas well as considering ethical issues related to the use of AI and personal data.
