Disney+ will have 3D HFR movies for the launch of the Apple Vision Pro
At the beginning of February Apple will launch the Vision Pro, a device that the apple firm defined as Apple's first space computer. To understand it a little better we can say that the Vision Pro are mixed reality glasses that merge digital content with the physical world, allowing users to use applications or view multimedia content in a much more immersive way. And this last functionality is the one that interests us the most at AVPasión of course. And also to Apple, since it was one of the functions that was most shown at the presentation of the device.
According to the manufacturer, thanks to the two ultra-high resolution screens that the Apple Vision Pro incorporate we can transform any space into a personal cinema with a screen that appears to be 30 meters wide, to which we must add the advanced spatial audio system. That is, users of Apple glasses will be able to watch movies and TV shows on a giant screen or enjoy amazing 3D movies. That is the theory but the question that assailed us at that moment was, where do we get films compatible with this technology?
As we saw a couple of months ago, Apple itself was the first to announce that its movie store would have hundreds of titles compatible with the Vision Pro. Something logical, on the other hand. However, we now know that this will not be the only method to get 3D movies compatible with the new Apple glasses. Disney+ has announced that it will soon offer 3D movies compatible with Apple's Vision Prosome of them will even be in HFR (High Frame Rate).
Disney+ joins Apple and will also offer 3D movies compatible with the Vision Pro
Disney joins the Apple Vision Pro bandwagon and has announced the launch of a series of 3D movies compatible with the new Apple device. As confirmed by the mouse company, 3D movies are encoded in MV-HEVC (Multiview High Efficiency Video Coding) with 4K resolution and Dolby Visionthus maintaining maximum image quality.
On the other hand, and very interesting, Disney has also confirmed that some titles will be available in High Frame Rate (HFR).. We understand this means they will be at 48 fps, at least for now. For example, Avatar: The Way of Water, we know that it was filmed in that format, premiering in theaters in 3D at 48 fps HFR.
But not only Avatar will be available in 3D. Other titles announced are Avengers: Endgame, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Elemental and Encanto. A catalog that will be expanded little by little. On the other hand, Disney has commented that 2D and 3D movies in the Disney+ application for the Vision Pro can be viewed in four different “environments”:
- The Disney+ Theater, inspired by the historic El Capitan cinema in Hollywood
- The Scare Floor from Pixar's Monsters Inc.
- Marvel's Avengers tower overlooking midtown Manhattan
- And the cockpit of Luke Skywalker's ship, in front of a binary sunset on the planet Tatooine in the Star Wars galaxy
Each environment includes animations and sounds, as well as Easter eggs from movies and franchises. Although Disney+ environments will be available exclusively on Apple Vision Pro, it seems that 3D movies could be compatible with other devices, although it is not confirmed at the moment. Disney+ 3D movies will be available on Apple Vision Pro starting February 2 in the US. and later in other regions.
