The month of January 2024 ended with great news for Hideo Kojima fans: the developer and his studio released a new trailer for Death Stranding 2 during the State of Play event. Announced a year ago, at Summer Game Fest, the title received a preview full of information and more details about its launch, which should take place in 2025 on PS5.
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach promises to bring graphical and gameplay advances in relation to its predecessor, in addition to expanding the story of the game's universe, as can be seen in the trailer — with new environments, enemies and countries. The game is initially scheduled for release on PlayStation 5.

Will Death Stranding be available on Xbox Series S/X?
According to an official publication on the Kojima Productions website and all promotional material so far, Death Stranding 2 will be released exclusively on PS5 in 2025. “Sony's State of Play confirms game title, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, coming exclusively to PlayStation 5 in 2025.”
In other words, just like the original title in the franchise, the tendency is for the game to only be available on Sony's main platform upon its debut. Considering the journey of the first title in the franchise, there is a chance that the game will reach PC in the future, but will be left out of Xbox consoles.
The game is a sequence of Death Strandingwhich was initially released on PS4 in 2019. Subsequently, the Kojima Productions title was also released on PC, where became available via Xbox Game Pass, and has also appeared for free on the Epic Games Store. However, a version for Xbox One, Series S and X has not been released to date.
Will Death Stranding 2 be released on PS4?
Confirmation of the game's exclusivity on PS5 also rules out the possibility of launching Death Stranding 2 on PS4. The studio promises that it will bring technological innovations made possible by new generation hardware, which makes a PS4 version practically impossible.
On the other hand, as mentioned above, a release of Death Stranding 2 for computer cannot be discarded. Considering that the previous game in the franchise arrived on PS4 and then appeared on PC, it is to be expected that the title will reach computers in the future, but nothing has been confirmed so far.
